Need a vacation? Join the crowd.
Approximately 1 yr ago, CDN studies demonstrated that nearly 25 per cent of Canadians weren’t taking the full number of vacation days they’ve been allotted, leaving 34 million vacation days unused every year. With on-going economic uncertainty throughout 2009 and into 2010, the numbers haven’t gotten any better.
“The stress associated with the current economy and impact on the workplace makes the need for time away from work even more important,” said Beverly Beuermann-King, an Ontario stress and wellness expert who says taking a vacation is an investment in one’s health. Do you (or any coworkers) suffer from the “I shouldn’t take a vacation” disease? Whether its Hawaii, Niagara Falls, or simply a 4 day weekend on Vancouver Island, your time away is better for your company’s bottom line than you may imagine.
41 per cent of survey respondents say they’re more productive when they come back from their holidays, and 54 per cent say they feel rejuvenated and reconnected to their personal lives after a break. So why aren’t more people arranging their scheduled to make use of vacation time? For more information and stats regarding the way CDNs use their vacation time, visit this link.

One Response to “Canadians Stressed, Tired and Vacation-deprived”
True, true and a sad commentary on the fear of change. It is so much easier to carry on each day like the last. Fear is an amazing power and seldom is recognized for what it is.
